School Council
School Council
The R.L. Beattie School Council presently consists of parent volunteers, the Principal, the Vice-Principal, and a teacher representative.
School Council promotes and supports the involvement of ALL parents in their children’s learning by:
- Providing information about curriculum-related activities, decisions, and planning;
- Communicating with parents about school programs;
- Offering advice to the Principal and Vice-Principal in setting school priorities for improving student achievement;
- Helping parents establish home environments that support their children as students.
You can be as active on Council as you wish to be; attending meetings and sharing your thoughts is just as important as taking on an official Council position (Chair, Secretary, etc.), so don’t be shy!
The School Council meets on a regular basis at 6 pm. Please check the school calendar for specific meeting dates. Child care is available, with 24 hours notice. Meetings usually last one hour and include reports from the Principal and Vice-Principal, as well as discussions of topics of interest to Beattie parents (workshops, Info Soirée, student concerts, re-greening, dress code, etc.).
Parents play the first and most important role in their children’s education. Because parents are key partners in building a quality education system in Ontario, our school needs to hear from you.
Please consider attending School Council meetings this year and perhaps joining the R.L. Beattie School Council next year. We need you!
